THEY GOT IT FROM THEIR MAMAS

Shout out to all the mamas out there for turning out a big, bold, booty-rich ((305)) crew. Our instructors and and DJs come from fyne ass stock. And if you ask them? They got it from their mamas...

What did you get from your mama?

"My mom taught me, "Who gives a f*ck?" Fitting in is boring. Be yourself. Think different. Be proud of who you are." —Sadie Kurzban, Founder and NYC Instructor

“My mom is spicy, savvy, stylish, and sweet. She's a bonafide boss lady, a go-getter and go-giver! I get all those cool traits from her. Thanks, Mama Louisiana! (That's where we are from and she LOVES Beyoncé as much as me—they even have the same bday)." Jalina Porter, DC Instructor

"My Mama taught me: 1) Do. The. WORK. No one is going to do it for you!  2) Always CHOOSE faith over fear...fear is going to show up regardless, but your dreams are calling! So hit the ground running with that faith & know that you'll always be taken care of.  3) Honest communication is key. You have a voice so speak up for yourself & others (AND most importantly reply to your mother's phone calls and texts...wooops sorry mom love you). Don't be afraid to say what you think/how you feel/what you need!!!!!" -Lexi Garcia, NYC Instructor

"I get my bubble butt from my mama. She was a high school athlete and STILL has calves and a booty of steel!  But more importantly, my mother taught the power and importance of working hard, even in the face of adversity. She was the first and only person in her family to go to college, and one of the only people in her rural town. She got her nursing degree and worked for more than 30 years at the same hospital, doing one of the hardest jobs: caring for sick children. She inspired me to be the first (and only) person in my family to get my masters degree, and is the reason that I am a dancing rocket scientist! Nothing is impossible."  —Juli Lawless, DC

"My mamma got this from her mamma and passed it along to me - 'Powerful things come in small packages, like diamonds and dynamite.' Being small in stature, people will always underestimate us, but after serving as the CFO for a federal agency for over 10 years, my mamma proved them wrong. I couldn't be more proud to be her pint-sized daughter." —Tori Fyock Instructor, DC

"My mom profoundly cares for others and has always taught me to consider the feelings and thoughts of others with high regard. She has given me both a strong sense of self and a strong sense of empathy and sympathy. I constantly put myself in the shoes of others before acting and at the end of the day, I feel better about my impact. I am constantly learning from my mama but this is the thing I'm happiest about taking from her...aside from her blue eyes ;)" —Danielle Carlacci, NYC Instructor
