RING IN 2018 RIGHT WITH KELLY

It's freezing AF in Boston right now, but our bae Kelly is making sure 2018 is on fiiiiire. She's teachin' a crazy schedule of morning classes — so don't let this weather convince you to hit that snooze button — get up and get out and join her!

We sat down with this bold boo — who, fun fact, was a ((305)) junkie before she became an instructor — to talk about why she doesn't believe in resolutions, why she's so sure 2018 will be a better year than the last, and her weird love of 20 degree weather.

 
 
 
 

What do you want to leave behind in 2017?

I want to leave behind any mental or physical crud that isn’t serving me. I’m trying to become more minimalistic with physical belongings that become clutter and anxieties that aren’t worth the mental space!

 

What are you pumped for in 2018?

Is it so cliche if I feel like 2018 is going to be an amazing year?! I got married in 2016 and that was awesome, but other than that, 2016 and 2017 were friggin' buzzkills and I feel like we’re all feeling the energy start to turn. I am pumped to continue my journey with ((305)) as it grows and becomes BICOASTAL BITCH! I’m also pumped for Senate Elections (go out and vote, young people, let’s not f this up again, yes?).

Do you prefer to set “goals” or make “resolutions”? 

I am definitely not one for resolutions — I know they work great for some people, but for me I just know it’s only a mater of time before I break.

 

What are your goals for 2018?

This year I would like to be more open minded, patient, and procrastinate less. They’re goals that are measurable by how I deal with a situation presented, so I can assess myself and be in the moment.

 

 
 

 

What could you never give up?

I could never give up caffeine. Coffee, tea, even a little bit of kombucha. It’s definitely one of those western addictions that we just accept in society, but I am what I am. 🤷🏼‍♀️

 

How do you stay motivated when it’s cold out?

When it’s cold out, I try to get my workout in early in the day. I’m so lucky to teach ((305)) early in the morning; it feels AMAZING to accomplish something so great sometimes right as the sun is coming up. I also try to take some sort of class (barre, yoga . . . I’m trying with the yoga. I snubbed it for a while, but I’m definitely trying to appreciate it!) twice a week in the morning. I also keep myself motivated by layering the f up and putting on my Pussy Hat or Patriots hat (Tom Brady is the 🐐) before going out so I’m not cursing the cold before and after I get my blood pumping. I actually kind of like the feeling of getting smacked in the face with a 20 degree day to wake up!

 

 
 

 

What's your favorite winter activity?

My favorite winter activity is going to bed early and wearing socks that my Mimi knit👵🏻

 

What is the one song you're obsessed with right now?

“Green Light” by Lorde. 

 

What's your favorite choreo right now?

You know I love it all! I love “Other Boys” and love the throwback “Brave Heart”!
