BLOWING OUT MY BOOTY CANDLES
There's only one thing better than dancing your ass off at ((305))...dancing your ass off at ((305)) with all your closest friends to all your favorite songs at ((305)).
We caught up with our NYC junkie Sarah, who threw a ((305)) birthday party. Her description of ((305)) is legit the best one we've ever come across.
We gotta know, what gave you the idea to do a ((305)) party?
Real talk, I ALWAYS secretly wanted to host a private party, but the thought of rallying all my friends to take class seemed like way too much work. Totally wrong, BTW.
How did you corral the squad?
Honestly, it was all pretty simple because ((305)) hooks you up with your very own private party planner, so all I had to do was rally a group of friends to attend.
There were 26 of us, which sounds like a lot— but I promise you, it's not that hard when you factor in friends, co-workers, roommates of friends and of course, #305Junkies.
Wait. You had other people from ((305)) at your party?
Of course! I've made a ton of friends at ((305)). About half of my guests were junkies. Another half were brand new to ((305)).
What about those who were new to ((305))? Was it like pulling teeth??
No! I was surprised at how excited and receptive everyone was, which made planning a lot easier than I had initially expected.
YASSS! Birthday plans should honestly never be complicated. So okay, what was it like, day of?
Class was unreal . . . SO. MANY. DANCE. CARDIO. ENDORPHINS. I told everyone to wear neon and comfortable sneakers.
My birthday class was so special because the instructor really went above and beyond to make new people feel welcome and to work the room. Bobby was my instructor and completely caught me off guard when he reappeared with a hot pink wig leading Britney Spears choreo. To this day, whenever I hear "Do You Wanna Come Over," I still get flashbacks to my amazing birthday.
OMG!! A pink wig? I love it. Any other stand-out moments?
Hands down, the best part about having a private class seeing friends from different circles under one roof and enjoying ((305)) -- something I knew they would all love.
Real talk, twerking and shimmying in the blacklights is so much better than forced small-talk at a bar or dinner. By the time we were all ready to hit the bar post-class, everyone was already chatting and making new friends! You really can't get that anywhere else but ((305)).
Sooo true. Did you request songs you'd missed from class? Any #TBTs?
I got to select from a list of popular songs beforehand, and the DJ played all my favorites.
I loved being able to also request a DJ and an instructor (I mean, we all have a favorite instructor/DJ combo, rite?!) and loved incorporating throwback songs.
The reactions were PRICELESS!
And your fave song?
Another tough one that I always struggle to answer! "That's My Girl" or the throwback "Anaconda."
I think we probably know the answer to this -- but why'd you pick Bobby?
I adore and recommend all of the instructors, but ended up requesting Bobby because I religiously took his 7am classes. I loved being able to bring something I loved to all of my close friends at a time that was way more accessible. How cool is it that my friends FINALLY got to experience why I loved my 7ams so much?!
Alright, spill: did anyone who was new hate the class?
No, everyone totally loved it! I had a lot of friends that said they're "bad dancers," "clumsy" or "someone who would never be caught dead doing a dance cardio workout," but even those friends said they had a lot of fun! It's really less about dancing and working out and more about having an open mind and not taking yourself too seriously.
Why'd you choose ((305)) for your birthday?
I love that ((305)) celebrates small wins, like celebrating how good you felt when that random stranger on the subway complimented you and large wins, like celebrating diversity. ((305)) is that supportive, whip smart BFF with a shot of tequila in hand who always knows how to get the party started.
GURRRRL, STOP. That metaphor is PERFECT. You know us too well. How long have you been coming to class?
Believe it or not, I heard about ((305)) back in 2012 when Sadie first launched in Manhattan. At the time, I was also new to New York and wanted to experience cool things the city had to offer.
Did you keep the party going after your VIP sesh?
After my private party, we all grabbed drinks and appetizers at a dive bar near the studio and hung out. It was really great because everyone naturally started talking to each other vs. me running around making introductions all night. My friends were obviously free to leave whenever (after all, I just made them to do a 55 minute workout!) but I think the last wave of people ended up leaving at 3am... talk about a night of celebrations!
Alright, boo, one last one: My _______ brings all the boys to the yard.
My v-step brings all the boys to the yard. 💁
